Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopic Resection of Intrathoracic Extrapulmonary Schwannoma: Technical Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Schwannoma is a well-encapsulated benign tumor that originates from Schwann cells. Prognosis and progress are excellent, and recurrence of the tumor is sometimes reported after surgical resection . Intrathoracic extrapulmonary schannoma is extremely rare that had grown and bulging inside the thoracic cavity from the lateral chest wall ). Usually, intrathoracic Schwannoma is a found in the posterior mediastinum and bulge from the inner surface of the bony thorax toward the thoracic cavity. We presented this is technique of one port thoracoscopic resection of non-rib-spreading thoracotomy such as 3 cm incision.

First Iranian Experience of the Minimally Invasive Nuss Procedure for Pectus Excavatum Repair: A Case Series and Literature Review
Pectus excavatum is the most common congenital deformity of the chest wall. The most frequently used techniques include Ravitch (costochondral resection) and Nuss (minimally invasive pectus repair of pectus excavatum [MIRPE]). The Nuss technique includes using temporary metallic bars without costochondral resection to correct the chest wall deformity. Modified MIRPE can be learned easily and pe...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Results of Pulmonary Resection by Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopy for the Surgical Treatment of Lung Cancer
Introduction: Lung cancer is the disease of modern era, and the rate of lung cancer mortality is three times as high as that for prostate cancer and twice as high as the rate for breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the results of pulmonary resection in patients with NSCLC by minimally invasive thoracoscopy. Materials and Methods: We studied 10 patients with NSCLC scheduled for surgical resectio...
متن کاملUse of the da Vinci minimally invasive robotic system for resection of a complicated paraspinal schwannoma with thoracic extension: case report.
BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE Applications of robotics to minimally invasive spine surgery have produced several benefits while sparing patients the morbidity of traditional open surgery. Minimally invasive spine surgery offers the advantages of less pain and less blood loss, along with quicker recovery and shorter hospital stays. The da Vinci robotic surgical system has recently been adapted to ne...

Extramedullary hematopoiesis is a rare cause of an intrathoracic mass in individuals with hemolytic disorders. It can be clinically confused with other tumors of the mediastinum. While radiologic studies often demonstrate findings suggesting intrathoracic extramedullary hematopoiesis, histology is usually required for diagnostic purposes. Thoracotomy was the mainstay procedure for obtaining tis...
متن کاملResection of an Occipital–Cervical Junction Schwannoma through a modified minimally invasive approach: Technical Note
BACKGROUND Minimally invasive spine (MIS) techniques have been available for many years, but their application has been largely limited to degenerative spine diseases. There are few reports in the literature of using MIS techniques for removal of neoplasms. We report our experience using a modified MIS technique for removal of an occipital-cervical junction (OCJ) schwannoma with attention to te...
